What is a venous skin ulcer?

Venous Ulceration - This is the final physical sign of cutaneous malnutrition.

Venous ulcers look like shallow holes and can vary in size, color and depth.

Can occur with or without visible varicose veins.

Develop on either side of the lower leg, above the ankle and below the calf, when slow circulation in damaged veins causes fluid to seep out of the overfilled veins into surrounding tissues.
