Cyst removal
Epidermal Inclusion Cysts - These slow-growing and painless bumps under the skin can occur anywhere on your body, and frequently become irritated and inflamed.
Treatment is recommended if cyst:

Treatment is often recommended for purely cosmetic reasons, or to prevent rupture.
Procedures offered at IVSI
Laser assisted Incision and Drainage of small cyst on face and neck, or
large cystic acne
Using an ablative laser, the cyst is punctured and its contents and wall
are destroyed. Afterwards, the cyst might feel and look reddish and slightly
swollen for 1-3 days, but subsides after healing takes place.
This is a minor procedure which requires topical or local anesthetic, with minimal time down and a straightforward outcome.
Laser assisted Incision and Drainage for inflamed, infected, or ruptured cysts
The content of the cyst is drained through an incision. A ruptured cyst
with draining pus might require iodoform packing and frequent dressing
changes for several days post-procedure. The incision site might need
to be left for secondary intent healing, which unfortunately results in
a rather unfavorable looking scar.
Surgical excision of any non-ruptured cysts
The entire cyst is removed to prevent regrowth. Post-procedure, the site
is sutured to minimize scarring. Excision requires local anesthetic and
suture removal 7-14 days after treatment.
Laser assisted Incision and Drainage of Cystic Acne - by opening comedones with a laser, we are able to drain pus from the cystic lesion, and destroy cyst wall structures. We have found that laser assisted I&D prevents recurrent inflammation and scar formation very effectively for most people, and also improves the outcome of pharmacologic treatment. I&D of severe cystic acne is the only acne procedure covered by insurance. To learn more about other Acne Treatment Options click here.
